About Us
Silver Academy of Music (SAM) brings about changes and innovations to music education, so that students can strive for excellence, happily. Combining her experiences in UK boarding school and the Royal Academy of Music, the interviews with Maestros and radio documentaries on the Central Conservatory of Music and Shanghai Conservatory in China produced in RTHK Radio 4, and her interests and spiritual awakening, Founder and Principal Jenny Lee created a new pedagogy, Body.Mind.Music, at SAM. Learning is like pouring water in cups – each cup is unique; both the water bottle and cup should have no crack (healthy body), no dirt (positive thinking or emotion), in order to transfer or contain the clear water (knowledge), filtered by affirmation and the loving energy of Rose Quartz crystals.
SAM is the only music school in Hong Kong, which incorporates yoga and meditation to give a holistic and tailored training in body, mind and music. In a spacious environment, filled with positive energy, love and light, a professional and dedicated team of teachers offers music foundation courses or instrumental/singing lessons, to students aged 6 months to 16 years old. To enrich the musical path, SAM Buddies enjoys a wide range of fun activities – playtime in recess, drawing on creative wall, performances, chamber music, celebrations for Halloween and Christmas, concertgoing and meeting Maestros, actively participating in competitions, ABRSM exams, public performances, charity events, master class and school concert etc. In a supportive atmosphere, we nurture students to develop passion for music, the ability to take initiative to learn independently, the confidence in performance and the endurance to overcome challenges for breakthrough, and thus, understand the width and depth of classical music.
Positive parental engagement and trust plays a crucial role. For parents to understand the complexity in learning music, we offer “Intelligent Parental Class”, so that they can support their child, effectively and creatively at home. Also, SAM brings in Sound Therapy, using crystal singing bowls, reiki, yoga, meditation or aromatherapy etc, for parents or adults to adjust their energy and heal wounds, so that their inner child can feel joy and peace, and they can spread love and light with wisdom to their child and people around them.
In the last six years, we accomplished a list of achievements. SAM was awarded by HKMOS as “Best Music Academy of the Year” and won five “Best Music Organization Award” in competitions in Asia. SAM Buddies won 88 awards in competitions and achieved 90% excellent result in ABRSM exams, with the highest mark at 148 (total: 150). SAM teachers received 15 “Best Teacher Award”.
SAM is honored to be the long time Discount Partner of HK’s flagship art organization, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. We also attend frequently concerts of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and collaborate closely with the Education University of Hong Kong to nurture the next generation of music teachers.
