Music Therapist (HCPC, UK), Piano and music theory tutor
Wong’s interest towards music started since the age of six, he then studied pianoforte at the age of eight under the tutelage of Professor Peter Gill, and later music theory with Dr. Tam. During his music bachelor studies in Chinese University of Hong Kong, Wong was active in a choir, wind band and non-classical music band. His musical activity did not stop upon graduation and was invited to perform in London, Tallin, Copenhagen, etc.
Wong has participated in a range of community services, which includes assisting music therapists, leading music activities in NGOs, and promoting community music. He was later honored to have granted the Hong Kong Scholarship of Excellence Scheme to study Master degree in music therapy, where he served to provide group and individual music therapy sessions in a special need school (Castle School) and mental health hospital (Springfield Hospital). The client population covers ADHD, autism, attachment disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, eating disorder, learning disability, personality disorder, schizophrenia, etc.
Wong has cooperated with different organisations before such as Hong Kong Playground Association, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, and Tuen Mun Hospital; he currently has a working linkage with Mental Health Association of Hong Kong, where he provides group and individual music therapy sessions. He has also adapted some of the music therapy skills such as improvisation and playfulness in his teaching, so that to help his students to develop their interest and make learning piano easier especially for people in need.
